Choicest Cuts Mix Series

I might have mentioned (once or twice..) I'm a fan of the 90s sound. It was the soundtrack to my teenage years. It's pretty easy to fall into the "trap" of thinking that decade was Hip Hop's peak and it never got better than that...Whilst I'd say that's still probably true, I've tried to keep an open mind with new stuff I hear and it's also unfair to constantly compare it with the Golden Era...styles change and that's all good. Whilst greats like Primo and Large Pro are still dropping bangers, however, there's always going to be a thriving scene out there....

So in 2014 I put together a monthly mix series, "Choicest Cuts" a compilation of the best Hip Hop releases every month, keeping up with the latest tunes and reminding myself this art form is in no way dead yet! It also serves another purpose - I tend to leave way too much time between making new mixes, at least this way I'm forced to keep my studio in record mode, rather than constantly shifting equipment around when I want to do something new...turntables take priority again!

The series is on hold for now, I'm hoping to bring it back maybe with a live-streaming show. Watch this space...
