Hip Hop Connection Issue #191 June '05 - "Ones & Twos" Mixtape review section by DJ Yoda (miscellaneous scans)

So me and the rest of my family over the last few years kept plenty of things in storage (total hoarders - junk basically). I'd guess I had about 100 old issues of the UK classic HHC and the more mainstream Source magazines from the States. So I thought I'd scan a few of the more interesting articles and upload to this blog. Turns out someone in my family assumed they were rubbish and threw them away!

(Recommended Mix Series) - "Golden" by DJ Bamboo plus Interview!

So happy to find this mix - DJ Bamboo comes more than correct with his ode to the Golden Era of Hip Hop in "Golden". Golden was made in 2013 and is one of those mixes that within seconds of hearing the intro you know you're in for a treat - Smart word play and clever use of samples sets the tone for a great mix incorporating skills and a top-choice selection.

Damn, no posts from me before today since December last year. That's not great. I will try to amend that and start posting more! As some may know I've recently moved back to London from Barcelona and looking to get involved with the local scene.

Asthma Funk Cuts

DJ D.Beam Showcase @ Scratch Invaders, Barcelona, Spain 16th Nov '14

I was quite excited (to say the least) about this event, from the moment the organizers of Barcelona's monthly open-turntable scratch sessions @ Scratch Invaders announced it - D.Beam is definitely one of the worldwide Scratch Elite, I think I'd be hard-pushed to find anyone to challenge me on that!

DJ Swet kills the Showcase @ Scratch Invaders, Barcelona

A new monthly open decks night has started in Barcelona called Scratch Invaders, and whilst I'm happy to support anything scratch-related anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to hear Barcelona's own DJ Swet, fresh from releasing his banging debut scratch album "Agoraphobia", would be putting on a showcase.
