This show really took me back... The JB's in the studio with Westwood... They talk about one of the great festivals and rap line ups during that time, Essential Festival in Stanmer Park Brighton, 1997.
A Friday night show found on tape that must have been from mid-late Sept 1998. Lot of commercial tunes and a couple of phone-ins in part 2 (including Skinnyman). Mention of Jermaine Dupri in the studio the next day.....
The second instalment of my Record Selector mix series is now up on Mixcloud for everyone to check out and listen to.

Oh yeah, and I would thoroughly recommend copping his album too, one of the best things I've heard in ages. (almost sold out on vinyl - Digital version available too)
"Pull The Plug" - a short documentary on the portable scratch culture
and it's rapid growth. Recognizing and celebrating the culture's support
from around the globe. Highlighting the
positive impact it has made in turntablism. Inspiring seasoned scratch
veterans and young aspiring tablists...
Excellent classics-filled mix by the brilliant DJ DP ONE from the heavy Hitters crew, really enjoying their mixes of late after Daz started sharing them on here, this one definitely one of the tightest for those that like their 90's classics...
For this show I went digging in the crates for some of those lost and unheard of underground track that, for me personally, came from one of my favourite times for Hip Hop.
That late 90s/early 2000s era when you had labels like Rawkus, ABB Records, Matador, Fondle'em etc putting out dope 12" after dope 12". In the show you can hear track from Natural Elements, Self Scientific, Gauge, Company Flow, Vakill, Elix and many more from that era.
And of course the usual old school vibes alongside a few newer tracks from the likes of Westside Gunn, Epidemic and the new MadNoisi track "Looking Back" to!
Wow, just found a nice bit of nostalgia - Having grown up in Hastings, I have some great memories of going twice to this event; I knew people travelled from far and wide for it (not many other reasons to come to Hastings!) but didn't remember it attracted the likes of Matt Hoffman....
